Carbon Free California:
Nuclear is green. What?
In the face of climate change, and the need for energy that doesn’t vanish on still days or dark nights, a lot of surprising people have changed their minds about nuclear — including leading environmentalists who, historically, wouldn’t have touched this power source with a 10-foot cooling rod. That’s what resulted in one of our most unusual recent requests: an “air cover” campaign to support keeping PG&E’s often-maligned Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant open for the next 5 years. Long story short, rallying the public made a huge difference and the necessary legislative and regulatory approvals have now been obtained. Thus, the lights stay on.
